Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 26, 2026 Last Updated: August 26, 2026

World Basketball Scouting LLC ("World Basketball Scouting," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website located at WorldBasketballScouting.com, along with related services, tools, and applications (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information in connection with the Service, and the choices available to you.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in three general ways: information you provide to us directly, information we collect automatically, and information we obtain from public and third-party sources.

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: When you register for an account (as a scout, coach, agent, fan, or player), we collect information such as your name, email address, password, organization/affiliation, and role.
  • Player Portal Submissions: Players who apply through our Player Portal, including the "Existing Prospect Form" used to claim, verify, correct, or request removal of a profile, may provide information such as identity verification details, playing statistics, physical measurements, highlight videos, contact information, and questionnaire responses.
  • Payment Information: If you purchase a subscription, we (or our third-party payment processor) collect billing information necessary to complete the transaction. Some transactions are processed via a third-party payment processor; others are invoiced directly by our company. See Section 5 for details on how payment data is handled.
  • Communications: If you contact us for support or other inquiries, we retain the content of that communication and your contact details.

1.2 Information We Collect Automatically

  • Usage Data: We collect data about how you interact with the Service, including pages viewed, search and filter activity, device type, browser type, IP address, and referring URLs.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies and similar technologies to operate and improve the Service. See Section 6 ("Cookies and Tracking Technologies") for a full explanation of the categories of cookies we use, including those from Google Analytics and (once enabled) Google AdSense.

1.3 Information from Public and Third-Party Sources

A large portion of the player profiles on our Service are not created by the player, but are compiled by us from publicly available sources, including but not limited to national and international federation records (e.g., FIBA), third-party recruiting or ranking sites (e.g., EuroBasket.com), club and team websites, and other publicly accessible sports data. This may include a player's name, team/club affiliation, statistics, rankings, competition history, and publicly posted photos or highlight footage.

This aggregated data is treated the same as any other personal data under this Privacy Policy once it appears on our Service, and is subject to the profile claim, correction, and removal rights described in Section 8.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create, maintain, and display player and user profiles;
  • Operate the recruiting database, search, and filtering tools;
  • Verify player identity when a profile is claimed through the Player Portal;
  • Process subscription payments and manage billing;
  • Provide subscribers (including recruiters, coaches, and agents) with access to enhanced profile details — such as measurements, questionnaire answers, and direct contact information — only where the player has consented to share that specific information;
  • Communicate with you about your account, transactions, updates, or support requests;
  • Analyze usage trends to improve the Service (via Google Analytics);
  • Serve advertising to non-subscribed users, and personalize ads once Google AdSense is enabled on the Service;
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service;
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal data to third-party data brokers.

3. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process personal data on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (providing the Service you sign up for), our legitimate interests (operating and improving a recruiting platform, aggregating publicly available sports data, fraud prevention), your consent (e.g., where you affirmatively choose to share contact details with recruiters, or where required for certain cookies), and compliance with legal obligations.

4. How We Share Information

We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • With Subscribers/Recruiters: Enhanced profile details (e.g., contact information, measurements, questionnaire responses) are shared with subscribing recruiters, coaches, or agents only for players who have consented to make that specific information visible.
  • Service Providers: We share information with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, including payment processing, hosting, analytics (Google Analytics), and advertising (Google AdSense, once enabled). These providers are authorized to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or where necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of World Basketball Scouting, our users, or the public.
  • Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify users of any such change in ownership or control.
  • With Your Consent: We may share information for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection, or with your consent.

We do not sell personal data to third-party data brokers, and we do not share personal data with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes without your consent.

5. Payment Processing

Subscription payments made through our website are processed by a third-party payment processor. We do not store full payment card numbers on our own servers. Some transactions — particularly for institutional or organizational customers — are instead handled through direct invoicing to the company, in which case standard business billing information (such as name, organization, and billing address) is retained by us for accounting and tax purposes.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use the following categories of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Strictly Necessary Cookies: Required for core functionality, such as login sessions and security.
  • Performance/Analytics Cookies: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Service (pages visited, time on site, general navigation patterns). This data is aggregated and used to improve the Service.
  • Advertising Cookies: We currently display general (non-personalized) advertising to non-subscribed users. We plan to integrate Google AdSense once eligible, which will allow interest-based advertising using cookies. You will be able to opt out of personalized advertising through Google's Ads Settings or industry opt-out tools (e.g., the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out page) once this feature is live.
  • Functionality Cookies: Used to remember your preferences (such as saved filters or display settings).

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may limit functionality of the Service.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for users age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13, and account registration is not available to users under 13.

Because a substantial portion of player profile data is aggregated from publicly available sources (such as federation and club websites), it is possible that a profile may correspond to an athlete under 18, including athletes under 13, without that individual having created an account or submitted information directly to us. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child's information appears on our Service and you would like it corrected, restricted, or removed, please use the process described in Section 8 or contact us using the information in Section 13. We will promptly investigate and take appropriate action, which may include removing or restricting the profile.

8. Player Profile Claim, Correction, and Removal Rights

Because most player profiles originate from public, third-party data rather than direct player submission, we provide a dedicated process for athletes (or their parent/guardian, if the athlete is a minor) to take control of their profile:

  1. Visit the Player Portal and complete the "Existing Prospect Form" to verify your identity as the athlete associated with a profile.
  2. Once verified, you may edit, correct, or add information to your profile, including choosing what enhanced details (contact information, measurements, questionnaire answers) are made visible to subscribing recruiters, coaches, or agents.
  3. You may also request that your profile be removed from public view or hidden so that it is visible only to coaches/verified recruiters, rather than the general public.

Requests submitted through this process are typically processed within a reasonable time; you may also contact us directly using the information in Section 13 if you need assistance.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion — request deletion of your personal data, subject to certain legal exceptions.
  • Restriction/Objection — request that we restrict or stop certain processing, including opting out of interest-based advertising.
  • Portability — request a copy of your data in a portable format, where applicable.
  • Non-Discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

California Residents: If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (as those terms are defined under California law). We do not sell personal information for money; to the extent our use of advertising cookies is considered "sharing" under California law once AdSense is enabled, we will provide an opt-out mechanism.

EEA/UK Residents: If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR as described above, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 13. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

10. International Data Transfers

Our company is based in the United States, and information we collect may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for transfers of personal data from the EEA, UK, or other jurisdictions with data transfer restrictions.

11. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Publicly-sourced player profile data may be retained as part of our recruiting database unless a removal request is made under Section 8, or the data is no longer relevant (e.g., outdated or superseded records).

12. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal data from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites, including federation, club, or media sites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party sites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will post the revised policy on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date, and where changes are material, we will provide additional notice (such as a banner on the Service or an email notification).

15. Contact Us

16. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to its conflict of law principles, except where superseded by applicable data protection law in your jurisdiction (such as the GDPR or CCPA).
